I recently completed a terrific two week stay at Lac Bay Casita #2. The location is ideal not only for windsurfers (due to proximity to windsurfing venues) but for anyone wanting a quiet, lovely place. The apartment is well laid-out, very comfortable, and excellently equipped. The owners really care about their place -- and it shows. The rental agents (Paradise Rentals) are also extremely helpful and responsive. I've already booked my return stay for next year!

Casitas Unit 2 is an ideal place to rent, especially if you are windsurfing Lac Bay. It is just a short 3 minute bike ride to Jibe City, which makes it easy to ride back to the house for lunch, and then back to Lac Bay in the afternoon for more wind surfing. There is a small lagoon off the main part of the Bay that you can view from Casitas Unit 2, and its just a short walk to see if there are any early birds windsurfing before Jibe City opens (at 8 AM) and what the wind conditions are on the Bay.
The unit has cathedral ceilings, a complete kitchen, with more appliances than I have at home, including a full size refrigerator, propane stove and oven, electric oven broiler, microwave, blender, washing machine, etc.
The large living room has cable TV, and WiFi.
There are ceiling fans in every room, including the very large screened in Lani off the bedroom; and all the doors and windows are screened. If you leave the doors and windows open (but keep the screens closed), the Trade Winds blow through the house and keep it cool enough on most days that you don't need to turn the AC on (located in the bedroom).
Hummingbirds visit the flowering plants every day, but you have to be fast to catch them with your camera. Its much easier to take a picture of the occasional donkey that may stop by the evening to take a drink of fresh water from the foot bath outside (where you can wash off the sand before going inside).
The living room has two built in couches that double as comfortable spare beds if you have a friend staying with you.
The front porch also has two built in couches that are comfortable sitting of laying on, in case you also want to take a nap outside after you have lunch and before you go back to Lac Bay for more windsurfing .
In summary, its just a great place to stay. But check out the web site and look at the pictures of each of the Casitas Units and judge for yourself.

Let me go top down -- from Bonaire to Casita #3
Bonaire: wise choice for a Caribbean getaway. It is not crowded so you can really feel you've gotten away; it is not pricey so you can do more than you are used to.
Lac Bay: wise choice within Bonaire. Quiet and pleasantly breezy, especially at nights. You will want a rental car to get around though -- actually a good thing because in Bonaire without a car you'll be stuck in a touristy area doing touristy things : every couple of days while chilling at the front porch I'd see a bike tour pass by, with about a dozen tourists huffing & puffing & envious.
Casita #3: Great place. Furniture well-thought of and clean. Kitchen well-equipped -- pans in good shape, knives sharp, all details there (vegetable peeler etc). Fridge silent. It did not feel like a rental place at all.
In #3 the bedroom opens to a screened patio in the back. This made a big difference. We kept the patio doors open and had the air cool and fresh in the house always. In contrast, next door did not have a screened porch and I could hear their A/C humming (if I paid attention).
At nights I'd go on the patio and get bathed in the warm breeze as I read my book, and watched the lizards climb the screen from outside and hunt the mosquitos attracted to the light. In the mornings I'd eat my breakfast in the patio while watching the hummingbirds and parrots right outside. I miss that place.

I very much enjoyed my personal aviary, visits from the pregnant donkey, iguanas, lizards and visits from all the other critters.
I hope to be back.

We enjoyed a week in paradise. The casas are on the south side of the island so they are remote and quiet. The condo had everything we needed to relax and enjoy our stay. On our visit to the island we did the Washington-Slagbaai National Park museum and short route through the park. The short route was more than enough and the scenery was breathtaking. We saw cliffs, salt pans with pink flamingos, remote beaches.... If you are a diver, this island is a diver's paradise where u don't need boats, just walk out and drop off. They have diving schools. We did an underground cave tour. There is a wonderful little town Rincon where you can eat at the Rose Inn and there are goats just walking around there. There are slave huts at one end of the island that tell a story. Our condo had a kitchen with all the amneities needed to prepare meals, our room was furnished with a nice sized bed and there was a porch included. I can't say enough good things about Bonaire. The weather was great while we were there and I understand you can take a quick flight to Aruba if you wish to.

I'm currently staying in Lac Bay Casita 1 with [W.B.] ... This is our 3rd year staying in this house, and as soon as we can we'll book for next year. This place has everything we need and want for a comfortable vacation - a big, comfy king bed, a screened in back porch for breezy bugfree evenings, a kitchen filled with everything we need for vacation style cooking. The front porch, with views of Lac Bay and the flowering plants in the front garden, is the perfect place for a morning cup of coffee. Haven't even checked out the cable tv because there's so much else to do on this magical island.

I have stayed in these casitas five times, most recently 3 times in casita #1. The most important advantages of "Bunita Sono" are 1) proximity to Sorobon Beach on Lac Bay, one of the best windsurfing venues in this hemisphere, 2) a secure, screened back porch and screened front door and window, which allow cross-ventilation by Bonaire's tradewinds, allowing me to not turn the air conditioner on.
The ample hot water for a shower after long hours in the water is welcome. The washing machine makes trips to the laundromat unnecessary. The good-sized fridge, the microwave, toaster oven, blender, cooktop, wifi, etc., etc. make this truly a home away from home. Plus, despite its convenient location, it is amazingly private and secluded. And the ReMax folks (new managers this year) have proven to be very attentive and responsive.

We had such a great time. Your house was really comfortable. Two nights we had donkey visitors waking us up in the middle of the night in the backyard. Often times in the mornings there were parrots and it was so much fun to zoom on them with binoculars.
